Geelong Run Report
1st Sunday of the Month 1/12/2024
After quite a huge amount of rain the day before, it dawned fine on the Sunday and the plan was a quiet ride similar to the S.L.O.B ride around the Bellarine Peninsula.
We threaded through the “burbs” to get onto the Portarlington road at Point Henry and from there around the outskirts of Clifton Springs to Portarlington. There we turned left onto The Esplanade and as ever it was nice motoring slowly down it with a view of the Bay and Melbourne city skyscrapers to our left. Then a bit of a zigzag through Indented Heads and St Leonard’s to the Queenscliffe road. A quick detour by the leader to have a look at Swan Bay Pier which we’ve never seen before (not much to see!) and then onto Queenscliffe.
We perched for coffee at the nice little café near the lighthouse at the Queenscliffe Tourist Park which is open again after a long closure and were well looked after. To our surprise who should turn up but past Captain Andy Symons! (Andy has not been well for some time, but he hopes to get onto one of his several bikes again real soon)!
It was great to chat with Andy again and good fellowship was enjoyed by all.
