A good turnout of 6 riders despite the fact that temperatures were predicted to hit 35*C later in the day. It was decided after some discussion to head out to Beeac which we hadn’t seen for a while. This related to quite a long ride of 180 kms return but the weather was still cool enough early in the morning.
We rode through the Barrabool Hills as usual and out Merrewarp Rd to the Hamilton Highway to Inverleigh. Some 15kms the other side of Inverleigh we turned left down Wingeel Rd which leads past Lake Colac through Eurac and to Beeac. Wingeel road has become VERY potholed and is narrow one lane so plenty of caution was required.
Arriving without mishap in Beeac, we relaxed at the front tables of the Beeac Hotel whilst the lovely Asian managers fired up the coffee machine and made some excellent coffee for us plus some iced water as it was now getting hot. It is a good spot for a drink or lunch and is popular with other riders as before long a 30 strong group of Geelong Vietnam Riders turned up on their (mostly) Harley Davidsons.
We had a good time chatting with them and after an hour or so it was on the bikes again towards Colac and the Princes Highway and a high speed blast back home before we cooked! An enjoyable outing.
