Geelong Run to Forest

After meeting at the Waurn Ponds start and admiring Fred Vella’s 1985 Honda GL200 Trike, the. agreed plan was to go a little further than usual and down to Forest where we haven’t been recently.

I led off down the Princes Highway initially and sadly Steve Kirtley’s Yamaha XJ650 started to give what seemed like electrical trouble like it had had a month or two back? It kept on stalling and struggling to start again and Steve decided to go home.

Subsequently the remaining four of us carried on to turn left at Modewarre Rd and then right onto Cape Otway Road. Traffic was minimal and although cold, the weather was looking reasonable. At Deans Marsh general store it was a right turn and then after a kilometre or two left down Pennyroyal road – which was lovely with some sun starting to break through across the green farms and trees. A nice country lane to finally take us to the Forest/Apollo Bay road and into Forest.

The brewery café where we usually perch was closed for the winter, but the general store was open as usual and provided great coffee and home made pastries and the chance to catch up around the big table with all the gossip missed while a few members have been overseas and away. Good fellowship as always..
