Geelong Run Report
3rd Sunday of the Month 18/08/2024
Those who have been on previous S.L.O.B rallies will know where we went on this sunny Sunday. A slow lap of the Bellarine Peninsula from the Waurn Ponds start, down towards 13th Beach via the roads via the back of Barwon Heads airport and then over the Barwon Heads bridge through Ocean Grove. Right turn at the Bellarine Highway briefly then a quick veer to the left down Swan Bay Road all the way to St Leonards.
The near identical twins from the Merida factory c.1972 led into nice sunshine back along the The Esplanade through Indented Heads and then into Port Arlington with the sea sparkling in the right hand side and the Melbourne/Port Arlington ferry slowly cruising into dock. (Must try it one day – 70 mins from Docklands to Pt Arlington)!
We then enjoyed good fellowship and coffee at the Pier St Café for probably longer than the ride duration? It was nice in the sun to catch up with guys I haven’t seen in a while whilst I was overseas in Georgia . Rod Dutton has had his bike off the road for a while trying to get parts for his Kawasaki master cylinder and brakes. (Gotta stop when you gotta stop)! Mark has also been away drinking beer and getting dusty in the Outback around Cameron’s Corner.
Only 4 on the ride today as Ron Study is up in Qld and Nick Oakley is still busting himself up riding push bikes through the Alps in Europe. Back soon and the start of Spring weather will hopefully get more riders out in the weeks ahead. A good day bout.
