Geelong ride report, June 21st

Six of us met up in Waurn Ponds for the 3rd Sunday ride, and after a catch up got down to the business of working out where to go on the ride.  There were a number of dark clouds on the horizon and the radar, but after a bit of discussion we didn’t reach a consensus so Ron said “follow me” so off we went.  Ron skirted Geelong, through Batesford then into the Brisbane ranges through Stiglitz on to Meredith for coffee, avoiding the all showers.

David had a close encounter with a Kangaroo, who would now have a sore tail from being run over by a motorbike.  Kangaroos are a hazard in the Brisbane Ranges as many other places where there are trees close to the road, and the animals are not noted for their road sense and jump straight out into the road.  Fortunately Ron kept the pace quite sedate to give Nicks Bantam a chance in the hills, which probably helped avoid a more serious encounter.

Coffee at the Meredith Farm shop was quite entertaining as they were a bit overwhelmed by 6 blokes in cold weather motorcycling gear, but we all got our coffees and warmed up before heading back home our separate ways.
